Art Night
Sunday 14 December, 11.30 am
Once again this year, The Home of The Human Safety Net is among the venues for Art Night in Venice. The spaces on the third floor of the Procuratie in St. Mark’s Square will remain open to the public until 10 p.m. and await visitors to explore their strengths through the interactive exhibition A World of Potential and to discover the temporary exhibition We Rise and Lifting Others by Marinella Senatore, open to the public since May 7. But that’s not all. From 6 to 9 p.m., we can join “Le spaesate” in their “Itinerant Readings of Beauty”, a participatory journey through reading, art, and intercultural dialogue inspired by the themes of the “A World of Potential” exhibition. Le Spaesate are, in fact, volunteer readers who, at the conclusion of a journey through the sites of Venetian art, will arrive at the Procuratie with shared readings dedicated to the ability to train the eye, imagine, and create connections between people and the city.
At the same time, you can lose yourself in the stories of a truly special library: The Living Library, where the books are people ready to tell their own stories, share memories and experiences in the spirit of inclusion and shared listening.
Among the Living Books present are students Carl Harvey and Giovanni Piccolo, who will guide the audience on a journey through Futures Literacy, sustainability, and community; Alvine Djatsa Kingue, a Cameroonian fashion designer who combines sustainable fashion, wax print tradition, and intercultural dialogue; Daniella Bacigalupo, a Chilean artist who addresses social issues, memory, and fragility through collage and visual storytelling; Salma Hilmi, a Moroccan artist and graphic designer, who will engage the audience in her participatory work Art That Heals; and finally, thanks to a collaboration with the Venice Sustainability Foundation, architect Marco Marino, who will guide us through a narrative spanning past and future via inventions, technologies, and adaptation strategies—thanks to which Venice has managed to coexist for centuries with a fragile and complex environment.
An evening open to the city to listen to stories, forge connections, and imagine new shared futures.
