At The Human Safety Net, we have been inspired by the idea of venture philanthropy.
This concept dovetails with our philosophy of creating deep partnerships that are based on co-creation and extend beyond grant-making by mobilising the resources and capabilities of private companies.
Venture philanthropy is defined as a high engagement and long-term approach to supporting NGOs and social enterprises to maximise their social impact. According to the EVPA (European Venture Philanthropy Association), this approach consists of three core practices:
- Long-term financial support, tailored to the organisation’s needs.
- Extensive non-financial support, for example through training opportunities and pro bono services.
- Impact measurement & management, to understand what works and keep improving programs.
