Through Children’s Eyes

After Perugia, Rome, Genoa and Milan, the exhibition Through Children's Eyes arrives in Venice, at The Home of The Human Safety Net. It consists of 24 drawings made by children from the villages in the rural areas on the outskirts of Calcutta, beneficiaries of the Distance Support programme promoted by L'Albero della Vita, in partnership with The Human Safety Net. The drawings were collected by 4 civil service volunteers who spent a whole year in close contact with the children and their families. Created with simple, clear and direct strokes, the drawings are an expression of universal sentiments that are common to every latitude.

Dritti sui Diritti

The appointment with the conference organised by the Department and the Directorate for Social Cohesion of the Municipality of Venice on childhood and parenting is back at The Home of The Human Safety Net. The aim of the event is to focus on how the educating community can guarantee children respect for their fundamental rights and support their growth even in years of complex social and cultural changes such as those we are currently experiencing. The focus of this edition is, in particular, the right to socialisation and education.

The Ballad of Children's Rights

An event designed in partnership with BarchettaBlu, dedicated to primary and secondary schools inspired by the 54 articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. A selection of readings and video-readings designed to make young spectators aware not only of the importance of recognising children's basic rights but also cultural rights such as equal opportunities, education and the right to expression. Values in Music

Fourth appointment with the students of the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in Venice. It is the turn of the Venice Cello Ensemble who will demonstrate their talent and the versatility of this instrument by taking us on a journey from Antonio Vivaldii to Arvo Part. Third appointment with the live music review of The Human Safety Net in collaboration with the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in Venice. The pieces selected for this concert offer compositions by composers from the Baroque period, such as Claudio Monteverdi and Giulio Caccini, to explore the 17th century through its instruments and music.

Nati per Leggere. Readings for children and parents.

The Home of The Human Safety Net welcomes again the monthly low-voice reading events, for children from 4 to 6 years, with volunteers of Nati per Leggere trained by Centro per la Salute del Bambino ONLUS.
It will be a morning full of engaging stories and fun dialogues, which will capture the attention of children and convey to parents the importance of reading for the growth of their children and their emotional development.
At the end of the reading, children and parents are invited to explore their strengths with the interactive exhibition A World of Potential and share a playful and unexpected moment, and to discover the area dedicated to children in our Library of Sustainability.

The activity and the entrance to the exhibition are free.

Second appointment with the live music review of The Home of The Human Safety Net in collaboration with the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in Venice. The protagonists are two composers who have demonstrated their talent since childhood: Edvard Grieg with the Sonata for cello and piano in A minor op. 36 and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy with the First Trio for piano, violin and cello in D minor op. 49. Performers: Gabriele Tai (cello), Leonardo Francescon (piano), Giovanni Di Giorgio (violin) and Francesco Di Giorgio (cello).

Values in Music

The first live music review of The Home of The Human Safety Net in collaboration with the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in Venice kicks off. A real journey through time and space that will give the students the chance to put their strengths on track: creativity, perseverance, team spirit and the ability to appreciate beauty. It starts in Paris fin de siècle with a collection of pieces for voices and piano by Reynaldo Hahn, and with César Franck's Quintet for piano and strings.

Meet the Curator

Meet the Curator is an opportunity for the public to meet art historian and art critic Luca Massimo Barbero, curator of The Art Studio and Arthur Duff's installation "The Hungriest Eye. The blossoming of potential", and explore with him his work and collaboration with Duff.

A Venezia La Casa dell’Altro

Alberto Toso Fei and Laura Bumbalova will take us on a stroll between past and present, through history, toponymy, myth and legend to discover how the city has always been inclusive, attentive to the most vulnerable and how it has, even in this, often been ahead of its time. During the visit, we will hear the stories of Moulaye Niang, a contemporary glassmaker in the art of 'Muranero', and Hamed Ahmadi, founder of 'Orient Experience', an entrepreneurial project linked to hospitality and gastronomy.

Nati per Leggere. Readings for children and parents.

The Home of The Human Safety Net is launching a new monthly reading event with the program Nati per Leggere, designed for children from 4 to 6 years old with their parents.
It is widely proved that reading in the early years of life strengthens the adult-child relationship and supports their cognitive and emotional development, enhancing curiosity and creativity.
The first Nati per Leggere event will be held on Sunday, October 15, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The volunteers trained by Centro per la Salute del Bambino ONLUS will convey the importance of reading through a selection of books dedicated to young children and consistent with the mission and values of The Human Safety Net.
At the end of the reading, children and parents are all invited to discover their character strengths with the interactive exhibit A World of Potential, share a playful and unexpected moment and discover the area dedicated to children in our Library of Sustainability.

Festival Fin da Piccoli

The Festival Fin da Piccoli is a free event aimed at educators, teachers, health and socio-cultural workers and, of course, parents as well, which is part of “Dritti sui Diritti” organised by the Childhood and Adolescence Service of the Municipality of Venice. This year's theme is The roots of sociality, from the earliest days of life . It will feature Lynne Murray and Peter Cooper, from the University of Reading (UK) and directors of the Mikhulu Trust, Paola Milani, from the University of Padua and Monica Castagnetti from CSB - Un Villaggio per Crescere Milano, Mihaela Ionescu, director of the International Step by Step Association, and Giorgio Tamburlini, President of the Child Health Centre.In the afternoon, on the other hand, from 3.00 to 4.30 p.m. there will be free activities dedicated to shared reading with Nati per Leggere, the sound experience with Nati per la Musica, play and environmental education for parents, girls and boys aged 0 to 6.

I AM YOGA. Questions of balance between body and mind.

From 15 to 17 September, the event “Venice The city for Children” will be back to liven up the city, the Islands and Mestre with a full calendar of free events dedicated to families and children.
The Home of The Human Safety Net, in collaboration with the association Barchetta Blu, will participate with two laboratories on Friday 15 September “I AM YOGA. Questions of balance between body and mind”, inspired by the interactive exhibition “A World of Potential”, that invites us to discover and train our strengths and express our potential.
Together with the teacher Valentina Zocca, children will practice yoga to discover their body, but also their emotions, while learning to relax and concentrate. They will experience some Asana, body positions, Mantra, ritual chants and Mudra, symbolic hand gestures, other than listening to the music of Tibetan bells.

At 4.20-5.20 p.m. for children 4-6 years old
At 5.30-6.30 p.m. for children 2-3 years old
Time: around 1 hour
