After last year's success, 'Values in Music' returns to the Procuratie Vecchie for five enchanting Sunday mornings, right in the heart of St. Mark's Square.
This year, the festival once again offers an ideal journey through time, blending different eras and musical genres. It is also a chance to reflect on the values and strengths needed to bring the great magic of music to life. Perseverance, creativity, the ability to appreciate beauty, and the team spirit required to study and perform together, creating a harmonious and exciting whole. These are just some of the qualities that the young musicians performing on stage at The Home of The Human Safety Net will showcase, bringing us unique moments of joy and inspiration.
'Values in Music' kicks off on 24 November with a piano duo featuring Alessandro Dal Gobbo and Elida Fetahovic. Their concert, titled Im Volkston - In the popular way, emphasizes the popular roots of the pieces from various composers and periods (Baroque, Romanticism, and 20th century) that they will perform. They will start with contemporary Hungarian composer György Kurtág, continue with Robert Schumann's Pictures from the East, and conclude with five pieces by Gyorgy Ligeti.
On 15 December, a concert for an 8-piece choir - Gloria Ferro, Anna Basso, Iryna Shteiner, Rungdong Liu, Lorenzo Bellagamba, Joao Aurelio, Samy Timin, and Cesare Aggio - will be accompanied on organ and harpsichord by Sebastiano Franz and conducted by Maestro Francesco Erle. This concert will take us on a journey through 16th, 17th, and 18th-century music, featuring works by Vivaldi, Galuppi, Gabrieli, Lotti, Pasquini, Leonarda, and Merulo.
The new year will open on 19 January with a jazz concert and continue on 23 February with a performance by a wind ensemble. The festival will conclude on 16 March with a concert of Musica Antica for ancient instruments and voices.
Before and after the concerts, spectators are invited to visit the interactive exhibition "A World of Potential" and the installation "About Us" created by Tracey Snelling for The Human Safety Net in the Art Studio. Enjoy a moment of relaxation in the Café and immerse yourself in the open-shelf library full of volumes for both young and old.
