Values in Music: A journey through European Baroque: Telemann, Sammartini and Handel
Sunday 29 March, 11.30 a.m.
This year's Values in Music festival, in collaboration with the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in Venice, concludes with a poetic and exciting journey through European Baroque. Between myth, spirituality and chamber music, the programme highlights the richness of Baroque emotions and the variety of musical languages of the early 18th century. Guiding us are the young performers Anna Bódi (recorder), Silvia Dell'Agnolo (oboe), Danielle Rotillio (violin), Federico Tommasi (viola da gamba), Miron Konjević (harpsichord), Minyoung Park (soprano), Patrizia Belluzzo (flute), Gianvittorio Trevisiol (recorder). The musicians will perform a varied programme designed to highlight their talent and extraordinary team spirit: from a soprano cantata from Apollo and Daphne, composed by Georg Friedrich Händel during his stay in Italy, to a trio sonata by Giuseppe Sammartini, a true gem of early 18th-century chamber music repertoire, and three pieces by Georg Philipp Telemann: the Concerto a quattro TWV 43:a3, the Sonata a quattro TWV 43:d1 and the cantata Du bist verflucht, or Schreckensstimme TWV 1:385.
