Lecture by Alberto Toso Fei on the history of sport in Venice
From the ' Guerre dei Pugni‘ (Wars of the Fists) to the 1941 Italian Football Cup, from regattas - rowed by men and women - to the splendour of Reyer and fencing, from Carnival challenges (such as climbing up and down St Mark's bell tower or the ’Labours of Hercules‘) to ’futuristic" challenges involving seaplanes and speedboats. Alberto Toso Fei takes us through the long sporting history of Venice, from the days of the Serenissima to the present day. An encounter made up of stories and images to give us a glorious overview of the events, men and women who have made the history of Venetian sport unique.
