Maker Tales – The Artisans of Sestiere
Saturday 26 September, 6.00–7.30 pm (from 3.30 pm, meet the Venetian artisans)
An event dedicated to Venetian craftsmanship as an expression not only of tradition, but also of resilience, creativity and social intelligence. As part of the cultural programme On the Occasion of Homo Faber 2026, Maker Tales presents five mini-documentaries dedicated to five artisans, offering a unique insight into the places where their craft is practised and the people who live and breathe their passion. Directed by Chiara Becattini and following the narrative thread of Maker Mile, the stories give a voice to the artisans, providing an up-close look at their daily work, the gestures and creative processes that define their craft. The protagonists will be present in the theatre for a discussion with the audience: Daniela Levera (ceramicist), Fernando Masone (paper artist), Marisa Convento (impiraressa), Riccardo Guaraldi (lute maker), Marino Menegazzo (goldsmith).
Before the event, from 3.30 pm, visitors will have the opportunity to meet some of the artisans – representatives of excellence in Venetian craftsmanship – to chat with them and hear their stories.
Before the event, the public is invited to visit the interactive exhibition A World of Potential and the temporary exhibition We Rise by Lifting Others by Marinella Senatore.
