Cinema and freedom
Wednesday 27 May, 6.30 p.m.
Once again this year, Antonio Monda, professor at New York University's Film and Television Department, closes our MovieLab series of meetings with a compelling lecture. This time, Monda takes us on an extraordinary journey through films that are part of cinema history and in which directors and screenwriters have interpreted the concept of freedom and every human being's constant yearning for it in different ways. From memorable escapes from Alcatraz to those from a destiny of slavery, from the wind of freedom that swept across the world in the 1960s and 1970s to the battle against political oppression in every era, to the search for freedom that drives us to go beyond our limits, sometimes to the extreme. An unmissable event, not only for film lovers, but also for all those passionate about a theme so inherent in human nature that it is always and forever relevant and compelling.
