Venetians by choice, Carmen Rucci

A lawyer, journalist and author, Carmen Rucci has built an international career spanning law, media and storytelling. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Media and Journalism from the London School of Journalism, she has contributed to numerous Italian and British publications – including Channel 4, London Voice, Henley Standard, TimeOut and Espresso – and has worked as a television critic for the Japanese national broadcaster NHK World TV. We meet a Venetian by choice with a multifaceted personality who weaves together writing, culture and dialogue between nations. She is the author of the novel “Tutto in un anno”, winner of the 15th edition of the Milano Trailers Filmfest, dedicated to the memory of 11 September, and of “Domizia va in Giappone”, a guide to the beauties of Japan presented by the Puglia Region at the Turin International Book Fair. Since 2017, she has been the creator and organiser of “Giappone Svelato”, a cultural event held as part of ExpoLevante with BolognaFiere, in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy, which included it among the official celebrations marking 150 years of friendly relations between Italy and Japan. For over a year and a half, she has been living and working in Venice, a city she chose – and which chose her – after winning a public competition. Here she continues to nurture her commitment to culture, international dialogue and storytelling as a bridge between different worlds.
