Sports, Arts and Human Rights - MovieLab

An evening dedicated to sport and human rights with the Global Campus of Human Rights, for the award ceremony of the winners of the “Sports, Arts and Human Rights” prize. The evening will also be an opportunity to launch the new edition of our MovieLab – Sguardi sul Reale series with the screening of “The Right to Race,” a documentary on the story of Dominic Lobalu, an athlete from South Sudan. After the screening, there will be a discussion on sport, human rights, and refugees – themes close to the values of The Human Safety Net – to encourage critical thinking through the audiovisual language, followed by a cocktail reception.

The MovieLab series is part of the INVOLVED! InnovationLab for Sustainable ChangeMakers project, a public engagement program run by The Human Safety Net aimed at students and citizens as a path to collective growth. The films stimulate reflection on the major issues of our time – migration, rights, work, memory, relationships, sustainability, community – through everyday stories that resonate universally. Once again, this year the festival is curated by Francesco Della Puppa, sociologist and professor at Ca’ Foscari University, and features films based on true stories

that invite us to look at the complexity of the present. These are not just viewings, but experiences that generate empathy, awareness, and participation: tools that directly dialogue with The Human Safety Net’s mission and with the interactive journey of the A World of Potential exhibition
