Values in letters – A Venezia si giuoca e si balla

The second event of Values in letters is with Giuseppe Ghigi and his “A Venezia si giuoca e si balla,” an account, accompanied by precious period photographs, of how even during the years of World War II, the resilience and courage of the Venetians enabled the city to preserve its identity as a world center of art and beauty by nurturing an intense cultural life: the Biennale with its art and film exhibitions, La Fenice theater with its opera season, the Goldoni and Malibran Theaters, art galleries, and then more conventions, meetings and outdoor performances. The book tells many stories of courage and perseverance and how even cultivating an appreciation of beauty can cope with the brutality of a world conflict.
