New collaboration between The Human Safety Net and the Red Cross Budapest

A child’s safety is about more than just a roof over their head; it’s about the warmth of a parent’s attention and the feeling of being truly seen. Unfortunately, for many families in Budapest’s 8th and 9th districts, the daily stress of survival often leaves little room for these vital emotional connections.

To change this, The Human Safety Net Hungary and the Hungarian Red Cross Budapest have joined hands. Starting in early 2026, this partnership is dedicated to supporting families with children aged 0-6 living in vulnerable situations.

A Village for Every Family

We believe that happy children grow from happy, supported adults. By combining the Red Cross’s deep local roots with The Human safety Net’s focus on early childhood development, we are providing more than just aid—we are providing a community.

Our program focuses on three heartfelt pillars:

  • Supportive Parenting: We offer parents a space to learn, manage stress, and rediscover their confidence through group sessions based on proven developmental models.
  • The Power of Play: Guided activities help parents and children bond through movement and sensory play, strengthening their relationship one smile at a time.
  • New Horizons: We take families to theaters and museums—experiences that might otherwise be out of reach—to create lasting memories and a sense of belonging.

Investing in rebuilding the future

This collaboration isn’t just about professional guidance; it’s about rebuilding a family’s faith in the future.

“Our goal is to rebuild parental self-confidence and strengthen emotional security where it’s needed most,” says Tímea Kovács of the Hungarian Red Cross.

Kinga Kenyhercz, Head of The Human Safety Net Hungary, adds: “We are proud to work alongside the Red Cross to give these children a solid foundation, helping them face the future with strength and joy.”
