Marinella Senatore: We Rise by Lifting Others
The Human Safety Net and artist Marinella Senatore announce their collaboration on We Rise by Lifting Others, a participatory art project involving families with children aged 0–6 who are at risk of social exclusion and supported by the Foundation
A collective experience of transformation through art and words, involving three NGO partners of The Human Safety Net active in Warsaw, Palermo, and Mestre, which will culminate in May in Venice with an exhibition at The Home of the Human Safety Net in the Procuratie
Focussed on themes such as community, personal growth, and inclusion, We Rise by Lifting Others comes to life as an artistic project that places families with children aged 0 to 6 at risk of social exclusion —supported by The Human Safety Net — at its core.
Marinella Senatore is a multidisciplinary artist trained in music, fine arts, and film. Her practice is defined by a strong collective and participatory dimension, both in methodology and in the content of her works.
With We Rise by Lifting Others, the artist chooses to share her authorship and involve parents and children in the artistic creation process, reaching three different cities with creative workshops in writing, reading, and movement. The workshops both prepare the ground for the creation of the artwork and offer an opportunity for parents to exchange ideas, reflect, evolve, and spend quality time with their little ones.
In Warsaw—where the project was launched on December 9 and 10—the artist engaged with the community of the NGO Ta Szansa (“This Opportunity”). The journey continued in Mestre, where a new stop took place in early January with the Casa Famiglia San Pio X Institute, and it will conclude in Palermo with the Centro per la Salute delle Bambine e dei Bambini. All three organisations are partners of The Human Safety Net within the For Families programme.
The ideas and images gathered during the workshops will form the foundation of Marinella Senatore’s exhibition, which will open alongside the launch of the 61st Venice Art Biennale. The exhibition is conceived for the Art Studio, the space dedicated to contemporary art within The Home of the
Human Safety Net, and will be open to the public from 7 May 2026 to 22 March 2027.
