A new home for mothers and children: Casa Taliercio opens in Marghera

Casa Famiglia San Pio X expands its support for mothers and children experiencing vulnerability with the opening of Casa Taliercio in Marghera, Venice.

On 22 October, Casa Famiglia San Pio X inaugurated Casa Taliercio, a new centre in Marghera designed to offer greater space, support and opportunities to mothers and children experiencing difficult circumstances.

The new centre builds on more than a century of commitment by Casa Famiglia San Pio X, which has supported women and children in vulnerable situations since 1910 through protection, accommodation and pathways towards greater autonomy.

More than a home

Casa Taliercio is designed not only as a safe place to live, but also as a space where families can find the support they need to strengthen their skills, relationships and confidence.

The new centre is also home to “Oltre le Nuvole”, the Integrated Centre for Childhood and Families, which opened in March 2026. The centre offers parenting support and activities promoting children’s development and family wellbeing, making its expertise available not only to families living at Casa Taliercio but also to the wider local community.

This approach reflects a simple but important principle: supporting parents during the earliest years of a child’s life can help create stronger foundations for the future.
