Becoming a National actor: Highlights from the CEE Summit
The Human Safety Net CEE Summit brought together The Human Safety Net leaders, CEOs and country teams from across Central and Eastern Europe for two days of dialogue, reflection, and renewed ambition. Held in Belgrade on 4–5 May 2026, the Summit focused on our shared ambition to become a national actor in every country where we operate.
At the heart of the discussions was a clear message: presence is not enough. To truly achieve national impact, we must strengthen our capacity to scale our programmes, build stronger partnerships, and mobilise a broader ecosystem of stakeholders: from public institutions to private partners and civil society.
The Summit created space for conversations on challenges and opportunities, while also fostering a strong regional spirit. Through a dynamic and collaborative format, participants explored how to accelerate progress, share best practices, and work more effectively as one network.
A key milestone was the introduction of common frameworks and “Groups of Excellence” to help countries progress together, learn from one another, and drive coordinated action towards our ambition.
Across all sessions, one idea stood out: sustainable impact happens when we build a net that connects everyone. By aligning diverse actors behind a shared goal, we can expand our reach and unlock sustainable change for families and communities.
