Inauguration of the new Family centre of the Villaggio per Crescere in Trieste (Italy)

A day of celebration marked the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Villaggio per Crescere (Village for Growth) in the neighbourhood of San Giacomo, in the Italian city of Trieste.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on 6 March, in the presence of the authorities, the press and numerous citizens, marking the beginning of a new phase for this important educational and social project.

An accessible space open to families

The new premises, located at 4/B Via Castaldi, have been designed to offer a welcoming environment, easily accessible and free of architectural barriers, dedicated exclusively to the activities of the Villaggio per Crescere. The centre is already operational with the following opening days and times:
•    Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9:30 - 11:30
•    Tuesday: 16:30 - 18:30

A growth and inclusion project

The Villaggio per Crescere is an initiative promoted and coordinated by CSB ONLUS - Centro per la Salute delle Bambine e dei Bambini (Centre for the Health of Girls and Boys), with the support of The Human Safety Net. Started in Trieste in 2018, from where the project has gradually spread throughout Italy and today has 19 centres in 15 cities, this model has proven successful and thus attracted the interest of other co-funding partners and of local authorities.

Concrete support for parenting

The Villaggio per Crescere is much more than just a play area: it's a place where families with children aged 0 to 6 can try out simple activities that are fundamental for the development of young children. Reading together, growing a small vegetable garden, drawing, playing, making music and spending quality time together strengthen the relationship between children and their caregivers, creating a valuable sense of community.

The inauguration of the new premises in San Giacomo represents an important step in the growth of the Villaggio per Crescere, which continues to work to guarantee children and their families a more peaceful and inclusive future.
