Supporting partners in Argentina: a Volunteer Trip to Chaco

Earlier this September, 14 volunteers embarked on a four-day journey to Chaco to support the activity of the NGO partner Haciendo Camino. This was the third volunteer trip The Human Safety Net Argentina has organised within a year.

The Human Safety Net Argentina supported the renovation of Haciendo Camino’s day centre—an essential space for children and families in the Chaco Region. This Region is an underdeveloped rural area in Argentina’s northeast, currently ranking last in the Country both per GDP and Human Development Index.

From the ground up, the volunteers helped build perimeter walls, a bathroom, and a storage room, ensuring the centre could serve the community in a safer and more welcoming way.

Creating Connections

Volunteers immersed themselves in daily activities alongside the NGO and local families. They joined home visits with NGO staff, gifting trees to each household, participated in sewing workshops with mothers, and learned more about the NGO’s programmes.

Celebrating Community

The trip concluded with the opening ceremony of the new day centre. Volunteers, families, and NGO staff gathered to share games, a good time, and a meal, reinforcing the values of community, and solidarity.
This experience was not just about building walls or painting murals—it was about building bonds, supporting families, and walking alongside communities.
