The Human Safety Net at the Refugee Summit in London

The Conduit Solutions Lab in London organised a Refugee Summit aimed to gather some of the brightest minds in refugee empowerment. The event was designed to connect those with the best ideas to those with the resources to make a difference in the global refugee crisis. It was hosted by the Conduit, a community of people committed to creating a just, prosperous, and sustainable future.

At the Summit, The Human Safety Net facilitated a number of discussions on the topic of Financial inclusion and access to finance for Refugee entrepreneurs. Through discussions on understanding financial products, managing finances, and accessing credit and micro-credit opportunities, participants gained a deeper knowledge and skills vital for navigating the intricate financial landscape.

The Summit featured presentations from 12 shortlisted entrepreneurs and NGOs who presented their dynamic refugee solutions for settling and integrating refugees as productive members of society. Two of the shortlisted projects come from The Human Safety Net’s partner NGOs: Joblinge and each One. The solutions presented focused on access to finance, housing, education, skills and training, and employment.

The panel discussions explored how refugee hiring can positively impact the private sector, the viability of entrepreneurship for economic autonomy, and the role of education, skills, and training in refugee empowerment.
