Scientific evidence shows that the early years of life are crucial for a child's health and intellectual, linguistic, emotional and relational development, with significant effects throughout adulthood. Reading plays a fundamental role in children's cognitive development and in developing parents' ability to raise their little ones. Nati per Leggere is a programme available in all Italian regions, developed by the Pediatricians Cultural Association, the Italian Library Association and the Centro per la salute del Bambino, one of The Human Safety Net's NGO partners. At The Home of The Human Safety Net, every third Sunday of the month, our volunteers welcome families with children for a reading session, a journey through fantastical worlds, exciting stories and extraordinary encounters. All Nati per Leggere books are also available in our open-shelf library and in our Museum Shop.
For Families
Nati per Leggere (Born to read) – For families with children aged 0-6
Quellilà, readings in different languages of the world – For families with children aged 4-10.
Every fourth Sunday of the month, The Home of The Human Safety Net, together with the Centro Studi BarchettaBlu, offers an event with volunteer readers, enthusiasts of illustrated books, from many different countries, who, each in their own language, accompany children on a journey of imagination through stories and short tales. The volunteers at Quellilà bring with them the beauty and magic of their own culture and language. Children are transported to lands near and far by the magic of images and the sound of different languages.
T®EATRO BELLEZZA. The power of emotions – For families with children aged 3–7.
A three-stage journey in which the theatre becomes a safe space where children and adults can experience play, imagination and mutual listening together. Through theatrical and experiential activities, children learn to recognise and express their emotions, while adults rediscover the value of wonder and shared relationships. A journey in stages to train creativity, empathy and the ability to get involved, strengthening the bonds between oneself and others. In the first meeting, Discovering emotions, through theatrical games and experiential activities, it is possible to explore the beauty that everyone carries within themselves and learn to express it together. In the second, Dreaming and Discovering, we venture between inside and outside, reality and imagination, experimenting with new possibilities through body language and theatre. In the third, Sowing Wonder, we train our ability to be amazed, connect and create bonds, transforming theatrical play into an experience of shared beauty.
Perseverance Course - For parents and educators.
Three meetings for discussion and guided reflection with educationalist Anna Giardi and professionals from Casa delle Meraviglie – Baba Jaga Aps to discover together the tools that strengthen the bond with children, in an atmosphere of listening and mutual growth, while the little ones play in the space next door. In the first meeting, The Value of Relationships, we explore how daily discovery and careful observation can become the basis for relationships rich in trust and wonder. In the second, Cultivating Strong Relationships, we understand how no one is born an educator, but becomes one step by step: we focus on our potential and resources to learn how to support ourselves and become a positive reference point for the little ones. In the third, Growing Relationships, we understand how authentic relationships are built with patience, brick by brick, and discover together what the fundamental ingredients of a positive exchange are and what can hinder it, in order to train ourselves to transform bonds into opportunities for growth and shared strength.
Path of Courage - For families with children aged 6-10.
Four workshops created by Kid Pass with the participation of theatre actress Rossana Mantese to train the imagination and explore unknown worlds, invent new languages, understand how our bodies express emotions and moods even without the use of words, and learn to create masks based on our emotions, giving them life, voice and character.
Enthusiasm Course – For families with children aged 6-10.
Every enthusiasm starts with a spark. The Enthusiasm Course is a four-stage theatre workshop created by Kid Pass for children aged 6 to 10, where the body, voice and imagination help to cultivate enthusiasm: a strength of character that ignites energy, creativity and social intelligence. Each session features a different activity: theatre games, movement, story and character creation to train the imagination, and finally a special workshop to teach us how to let our enthusiasm blossom and share it with others.

THE LABORATORIES OF THE BARCHETTABLU STUDY CENTRE - For families with children aged 4-6 and 2-3.
Many laboratories are always offered for two different age groups designed by the BarchettaBlu Study Centre. With NUVOLABLU - how many colours does a sky of creativity have, we learn to observe shapes and colours and we learn to observe the sky, illuminated by the sun or enveloped by clouds. PING - PONG Stories and games in motion is an experience to get to know each other through “moving” readings experienced through the body and its senses, because a book can be “leafed through” by listening to words but also to sounds, music and tactile discovery. SALISCENDI - psychomotor play and movement to share and connect uses play to create bonds, play with the body, communicate without words, and grow together. The body becomes an instrument of relationship and discovery, a shared moment of listening, contact and fun to discover the power of non-verbal language. LISTENING When the sun When the moon is an ephemeral art workshop for families with children aged 1-3, which leads us to discover where the moon or the sun hide when they go to sleep, what they become when their rays come together with other shapes. TREES Readings within art, for families with children aged 2-5, leads us to discover how trees are made through very different books that describe them in a fantastic, realistic and playful way. The illustrations in picture books are the first art gallery for children: they develop a sense of beauty and a taste for proportion, balance and creativity. COMPAGNIA Bianco-Nero Pieno-Vuoto is an ephemeral art workshop for families with children aged 2-5, which allows us to express emotions through the use of black and white and full and empty spaces. VOCI Tracce di noi is a creative art workshop for children and parents, to approach art and harmony through reading. CREAMONDI. Ma che facce is an experience for parents and children aged 2-5 to get to know each other through “moving” readings experienced through the body and its senses.
