With the "For Families" program, we want to support premature babies and their families, covering all three phases – before, during, and after birth. We cooperate with three NGO partners: Leontinka Foundation, SOS Children's Villages and Vita et Futura.

Since the beginning of 2020, the Human Safety Net in the Czech Republic has partnered with Nadace Leontinka (Leontinka Foundation) in fulfilling its mission to 'bring light' to the lives of visually impaired children, supporting both “For Families” and “For Newborns” programs. In cooperation with Nadace Leontinka, we have supported the early care social service provided to both families of premature newborns that require dedicated assistance right after birth, as well as to families of children with visual and combined disabilities up to the age of 6 years.

SOS Children's Villages is one of the oldest non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic. For more than 50 years, they have been helping children to grow up in a loving family environment. In eight regions across the country, they help annually more than 2.5 thousand children who are at risk of being removed from parental care, children in crises, who cannot stay in their own family for a short or long term, and also children who grow up with surrogate parents in foster care.

They enable children to grow up with the bonds they need to develop and become their strongest selves, and advocate for each child’s rights so that all children can grow up in a supportive environment. Our cooperation and support of this NGO’s partner began in 2023.

With Vita et Futura we support the maternity hospital U Apolináře in Prague with the supply of modern diagnostic equipment helping predict risk factors during pregnancy and delivery, to reduce the number and impact of long-lasting disabilities.

Il programma

In cooperation with our partner Nadace Leontinka we support families with visually impaired children. Leontinka currently provides support, advice, and guidance to over 1000  families with visually impaired children through early care social services.

As part of our cooperation with SOS villages, we focus on supporting preventive programs, specifically SOS Kompas. SOS Children’s Villages offer tailored support to strengthen high-risk families, helping to keep them together. From counselling to skills development, children and parents are empowered with the resources they need to overcome their difficulties. With strong families, children and young people can receive the care and support they need to thrive and become the next generation of emotionally healthy, responsible, educated citizens, who are prepared to maintain the physical and social infrastructure of society.

Leontinka Foundation (Nadace Leontinka)

The mission of Nadace Leontinka is to bring light into lives of visually impaired children. In cooperation with Early Care Centers throughout the Czech Republic, Nadace Leontinka helps to ensure  comprehensive assistance to families with children with visual and combined disabilities. The staff of these Centers work directly with families with the goal to facilitate the integration of visually impaired children into society. The activities mainly include rehabilitation, visual stimulation and training of skills to compensate for child´s disability. The timely professional assistance significantly improves the situation for both the child and the family.

SOS Children's Villages

In the Czech Republic, we support the Thrive to five model, which is part of SOS Kompas preventive service. For children who have experienced abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or lost the closest person and with it all the security and belief that the world around them can be friendly and welcoming, the methods based on the Five to Thrive model can make it possible to repair the damage caused by early trauma, which is often considered irreversible. The Five to Thrive uses insights from neuroscience to provide caregivers with effective tools to restore children's trust in the world and themselves and clear the way for their best possible selves.
