Venture Philantrophy

Maximising NGOs social impact

At The Human Safety Net, we have been inspired by the idea of venture philanthropy.
This concept dovetails with our philosophy of creating deep partnerships that are based on co-creation and extend beyond grant-making by mobilising the resources and capabilities of private companies.

Venture philanthropy is defined as a high engagement and long-term approach to supporting NGOs and social enterprises to maximise their social impact. According to the EVPA (European Venture Philanthropy Association), this approach consists of three core practices:

  1. Long-term financial support, tailored to the organisation’s needs.
  2. Extensive non-financial support, for example through training opportunities and pro bono services.
  3. Impact measurement & management, to understand what works and keep improving programs.
