The Human Safety Net has welcomed ChildFund Philippines as a new NGO partner in its For Families Programme, which focuses on early childhood development.
ChildFund Philippines champions the rights of children living in poverty. Its ENHANCE Project operates in three locations: Manila, Pasay, and Cavite. Working with the City Social Welfare Development Offices, they provide the Supervised Neighbourhood Play Program which supports parents and young children aged 0-5 by providing opportunities to learn and play together.
ChildFund is also involved in planning how to improve services for these communities. They have recently run workshops and consultation meetings aimed at determining how best to rebuild programmes following the pandemic. ChildFund has been collecting data through its community-based Child Protection Mapping Tool, which is enabling them to understand the protection issues faced by children and youth in these communities. This data can be used by local government to plan the future provision of support.
ChildFund’s Programme and Sponsorship Director, Dong Waña said: “ChildFund believes that infants and young children need a healthy beginning that will enable them to gain confidence and competence as they grow and develop into adulthood. Our work on early childhood development gives particular focus on the parents, families, and duty-bearers to create a safe and nurturing environment. We find great value in this new partnership with Generali and The Human Safety Net. Specifically, our alignment with its For Families Programme will further our common advocacy in building strong foundations to support infants and young children achieve their full potential.”
